The majority of my time is used in our family farming operation. We raise food for the world! Corn, soybeans, wheat, canola, oats, dry beans, field peas and buckwheat are among the crops that we grow. My 2 brothers and I also operate a grain handling system as a satellite for a local co-op.
We grow our crops using no till systems, and use cover crops regularly. We are very concerned about the condition of the soil, and have learned that using heavy tillage destroys the structure of the soil over time, causing more erosion and loss of the soil’s water holding capacity. This is the beginning of long term problems in the soil.
